So while I was gone to Utah, Matt was very busy here at home. He has done great things in preparing our yard to give us the greatest yield of produce. Within the last month we have accomplished the following.
Pots of cilantro and sweet and hot peppers.
Here is the before picture of the back fence of our yard.
Matt dug out quite a few bushes and a tree to make way for our "after": raspberry plants.
A close-up of the raspberries
We planted more blueberry plants along the back. To the far left you can see a little pile of saw dust. That is where another tree once stood. Matt cut it down to allow more sunlight for our blueberries.
What is left of the tree
From last year's garden we learned a lot about "what not to do." So this year we dedicated the corner to our vine plants: yellow squash, zucchini, and pumpkin.
Watching the squirrels while eating is a favorite past time of Faye's. She is always the first to point one out. So we were able to catch one in action digging up all of our zucchini seeds, hence the protective plastic crates.
Our blueberry plants from last year.
Our strawberry plants from last year have grown considerably, and we also now have watermelon growing.
Our side garden plot: we've planted corn, eggplant, onion, peppers, potatoes, lettuce, carrots, peas, and tomatoes. The lettuce and peas are already sprouting.
We are very excited to watch our garden grow and to take care of it together as a family.

I love your garden. I wish that we could have one. I love your raspberry bushes.
I'm SO impressed!
Wow! That looks sooo great! I love how you've utilized all your borders for the garden... a fun way to landscape and have all your fresh fruits and veggies. Hope you have a great harvest!
