I've been wanting to repaint our porch railing all summer, but it wasn't until the impending rain that we decided to get moving with it. I sanded it all, primed, and painted. It was a big project, but the weather was beautiful. The kids were able to play outside and ride bikes while I worked on it, and Austin took amazing naps those couple of days!
We also decided to repaint the actual porch as well. We used some restorative paint to fill in the cracks and to protect it from moisture.
Before
We put the first coat on Monday and then the second on Tuesday. It needed 48 hours to dry which was cutting it close because it poured on Friday. So the weather cooperated perfectly!
The paint was as thick as peanut butter and was supposed to be a cedar color. The pictures don't capture the color very well because I about died when Matt started painting. It looked orange! I was already planning a trip to Home Depot to get a different color to repaint it. But thankfully the color mellowed as it cured. I surprised Matt the other day when I told him that I loved it! And I do.
Putting on the second coat.
The After
