How I Made Applesauce

I thought I was going to have to pass on canning this year, but when I went to the grocery store a couple of weeks ago apples were $.78/pound.  They had a great variety, too.  That was a great deal since at the orchards they were $1/pound.

Step 1: Pick the apples.  I got Fuiji, Gala, Red Delicious, and Golden.  Wash them.

Step 2: Cut and core the apples.

Step 3: Recruit two very willing helpers to eat the apple remnants on the cores.

Step 4: Boil the apples in a big pot with about an inch of water at the bottom until soft.

Step 5: Blend them up a bit.

 Step 6: Add some cinnamon!

Step 7: Put them in the jars and can!
Pictures of final project to come soon.
Note to self:  It takes A LOT of apples to fill not so many jars. :)

Great job Amber! I totally recommend getting a Victorio Strainer. That takes all the seeds, skin, etc. out for you without the extra work. :)
