Lucas celebrated his first birthday last week. It is so incredible to think that he has been a part of our family for a year now.
Lucas loves rice, especially fried rice. So our dinner theme was created around that. We had fried rice and chicken egg rolls and a panda bear cake.
The first picture represents the view of Lucas that we had most at the beginning of opening up presents. By the end he really got into tearing the paper and sticking around to see what was underneath the paper. I think it helped that we were all clapping and cheering for him. It was a silly sight.
Lucas LOVED his cake. The chocolate on chocolate won his heart. This was his first time to eat cake, and I think it was worth the wait. He didn't smile a whole lot, but that hand sure went from the cake to his mouth at a steady pace. He was quite upset when it was time to clean up.

It was great to have my mom with us to help celebrate Lucas' special day.
