Oaks Park

The kids agree with me when I say this was at the top of our list of favorite things to do this summer!  We received discounted tickets to Oaks Park as part of completing the library reading program.  Yea for reading!  We had never been before.  We were going to try to go as part of our family stay-cation, but it didn't work out.  So when my mom was visiting, we decided to go for it.  And we are SO glad we did.  It was so worth it!

We started off with the carousel (which, on a side note, we learned is different from a merry-go-round because it has all types of animals instead of just horses and ponies).

We started with the non-moving ones and then moved up to the moving ones.

Still not so sure about things...

After three rides we learned that Lucas was not a fan of any ride that moved up or down or jolted in the least.  He would be smiling and happy for the first minute and then burst into tears, shouting to get out.

Faye's favorite ride...the Frog Hopper.

And Calvin's favorite...the roller coaster.

Toward the end we found this motorcycle ride...all it did was go around in circles without any other movement.  So Calvin and Faye went on it first to show Lucas what it was all about.

Then Lucas gave it a shot.  Calvin was such a good big brother with Lucas.  I don't think Lucas would have made it without Calvin behind him talking to him and reassuring him.  He even wanted to go on it a second time!

We ended our stay with the train ride.

Maybe it was the fact that Austin slept and stayed content in the stroller for the whole time we were there.  Maybe it brought back a feeling of nostalgia for when I was a kid.  Whatever it was, it was just plain fun!
