Nahalem Bay Trip

From Wednesday to Saturday over the 4th of July weekend we made a family trip to Nahalem Bay State Park. On the way there we stopped at the Tillamook Cheese Factory for lunch and ice cream.

When we arrived Wednesday afternoon it was cloudy and raining lightly which made me really glad that we were staying in a yurt as opposed to tent camping. It was really cool with a bunk bed (that kept the kids entertained since we were yurt-bound for awhile) and a futon. It had a heater and electricity. There was sky light at the top that kept the inside very bright. And there were even showers nearby which was so nice after sunscreen and sand.

When it stopped raining we crossed the way to a really great park. It was wonderful to have it so close. We spent each morning there after breakfast playing before we headed to the beach.

Our first trip to the beach.

The kids were excited for smores.
We had a lot nicer weather the following days. We walked up and down the shore many times and played a lot in the sand.

This was Lucas' favorite mode of transportation: up on Daddy's shoulders.

Lucas loved wearing Faye's sunglasses and wouldn't take them off.

Behind us were a lot of trees that Calvin loved to climb. There were a lot of hide-n-go seek games. Matt was a great fire maker, and we cooked a lot of good food over it.

Here an outside and inside view of our yurt.
